Consultation and Preparation for Surgery

  1. Prior to seeing the surgeon, you will have an accurate weight and height measurement (to verify your current BMI).
  2. Your surgeon will make the final decision as to whether you are a suitable candidate for bariatric surgery.
  3. Your surgeon will explain the different surgical procedures and the risks and benefits of each. This is your chance to ask questions and to fully understand what is involved.
  4. Upon selection of the surgical procedure that you would like to have, you will sign an agreement with Weight Loss Surgery Inc. and pick your operation date right on the spot!
  5. You will have 1 week to “lock-in” your surgery date with a non-refundable deposit of $3,000. If you do not do so within that timeframe, the next patient who qualifies for surgery and chooses that date will be able to take it.
  6. Appropriate appointments for your pre-admission testing and evaluations will be made for you. These may include:
    • Blood tests
    • Chest X-ray
    • Electrocardiogram
    • History and Physical Examination
    • Consultation and pre-operative teaching with our dietitian
    • Pre-operative teaching by our nurse
  7. Depending on your weight, you will be prescribed a 2-4 week supply of a pre-operative liquid diet and the dietitian will explain the process to you.
